AI Agent flow image

Your Agentforce agents can only be as good as the commerce data they can reach

~ 3 min read

Customer-facing AI agents promise a lot: order questions answered around the clock, product recommendations in the chat, fewer tickets for your service team. Most of those promises depend on one thing that’s easy to overlook. The agent has to be able to see accurate product, pricing, stock and order data. When that data lives in a separate commerce platform, the agent is working from a copy, or not working at all.

StoreConnect is built natively on Salesforce, so Agentforce agents work with your StoreConnect data without a separate integration.

Most organizations don’t trust their data foundation to support agents

The readiness gap is wide. In Salesforce’s 2025 State of IT security research, 48% of IT security leaders worried their data foundation isn’t set up to get the most out of agentic AI1. Its State of IT research on AI and app development found 86% of IT leaders believe data quality makes or breaks AI effectiveness2. Poor data quality already costs organizations an average of $12.9 million a year, according to Gartner3.

When commerce data is stored in Salesforce alongside customer records, the agent reads one source instead of a synchronized copy. StoreConnect’s Agentforce Toolkit gives agents direct access to product, pricing and availability information in your org, acting like an onboarded Salesforce user4.

Connecting an agent to an outside commerce system is an integration project

Every system an agent needs to read is another thing to connect. MuleSoft’s 2025 Connectivity Benchmark found 95% of IT leaders report integration as a hurdle to implementing AI effectively5, and its 2026 research found IT teams spend an average of 36% of their time building and testing custom integrations6.

With StoreConnect, the commerce data is already in the org your agents run in, so there’s no commerce integration to build before an agent can answer “where’s my order?”

An agent that can take action needs the same guardrails as a person

Answering questions is one thing. Updating an address, building a cart link or checking booking availability is another. Salesforce’s 2025 research found 55% of IT security leaders aren’t fully confident they have the right guardrails to deploy AI agents1.

Agent actions built with the toolkit run through Apex and Flows, and what the agent can do is governed by the agent permissions you configure in Salesforce4. Your existing permission model decides what the agent can reach.

Give your agents the data they need to be useful

An agent that can’t see your commerce data can only guess. One that can see it can help.

Get the skills plugin. The StoreConnect page lists Agentforce alongside the skills for Claude, Codex, Cursor and other tools, so your builders can use their preferred AI tool to set up the store while Agentforce serves your customers.
