Two happy professionals in front of screen full of computer code

Ten developers using GitHub Copilot on your store means ten different ideas of how StoreConnect works

~ 3 min read

When a development team standardizes on GitHub Copilot, it gets consistency in tooling. It doesn’t automatically get consistency in results. Each developer prompts differently, each session starts from zero and each one fills the gaps in platform knowledge in its own way. The storefront ends up carrying all of those small differences.

The StoreConnect kit for GitHub Copilot CLI gives every developer’s agent the same platform knowledge, so the team’s AI output starts from the same rules.

More AI-written code is making delivery less stable, not more

Speed at the keyboard doesn’t always become speed in production. Google Cloud’s 2024 DORA research found that increased AI adoption was associated with a 7.2% drop in delivery stability and a 1.5% drop in delivery throughput, and 39% of respondents reported little or no trust in AI-generated code1.

Part of the gap is that code which looks correct on review can still break platform rules nobody wrote down. The StoreConnect skills write them down. Copilot learns which Liquid attributes exist, which form fields a checkout actually accepts and which theme overrides apply, so fewer of those failures reach a pull request, let alone a live store.

Almost-right code is the slowest kind to fix

Stack Overflow’s 2025 survey found 66% of developers are frustrated by AI solutions that are “almost right, but not quite,” and 45% say debugging AI-generated code takes more time2. Multiply that across a team and the review queue becomes where the time goes.

The kit also includes specialist agents for theme development, theme review, POS and Salesforce data, so a developer working on a register layout and one working on a content block each get an agent briefed for that work. In an interactive session, /agent and /skills list confirm both loaded3.

Giving an agent broader access than the developer is how incidents start

An agent connected to a production system with more permissions than its user is a risk most security teams won’t sign off on, and they’re right. IBM’s 2025 research found 97% of organizations reporting an AI-related breach lacked proper AI access controls4.

StoreConnect’s connection doesn’t need special credentials or a service account. Each store hosts its own endpoint, the agent signs in as the developer and inherits exactly their access, and write actions land in the same review flow the team already uses5. If a developer can’t do something in StoreConnect, neither can their agent.

Make every developer’s agent work from the same rulebook

Consistency across a team shouldn’t depend on everyone writing the perfect prompt.

Get the skills plugin. Add the StoreConnect marketplace and install the plugin in Copilot CLI with two commands. Installing it connects no store and includes no credentials, so each developer can start against a non-production org.

Watch the full demo. CEO Mikel Lindsaar shows how an agent connects to a store and how staged changes get reviewed and approved, which is the part your security team will want to see.
